A Greeting Letter from Dai Jingjie, Director of Dalian Jinshitan Hospital, to All Physicians of the Hospital
Dear physicians:
In August, as the fruits ripen and fill the air with their sweet fragrance, brimming with vitality, we celebrate the second “Chinese Doctors’ Day.” On this special occasion, on behalf of the hospital’s Board of Directors, I would like to extend our warmest greetings and highest respect to all the physicians in our hospital!
On November 3, 2017, the State Council approved the National Health and Family Planning Commission’s application to establish “China Doctors’ Day,” and issued a reply document on November 20 of the same year, agreeing to designate August 19 as “China Doctors’ Day” starting from 2018. China Doctors’ Day is the fourth professional holiday established in China following Teachers’ Day, Nurses’ Day, and Journalists’ Day. This fully demonstrates the Party and the state’s care, concern, and support for medical personnel, highlights the professional honor and appeal of these “angels in white,” and reflects the profound life value held by physicians.
The medical profession is a noble one. From the moment we first step into the halls of medicine, we choose to embrace its sacred calling and solemnly uphold the oath: “Our duty is to safeguard health and entrust our lives to one another.” From the instant we write our first prescription or pick up the surgical scalpel for the first time, we deeply understand that patients place their lives in our hands—and that our responsibility is heavier than Mount Tai. We constantly bear the sacred duty of saving the dying, relieving the suffering, and healing the sick; we shoulder the profound mission of protecting the dignity of life and ensuring the health and well-being of the people. With concrete actions, we faithfully fulfill Hippocrates’ oath.
We choose the sacred, shoulder our mission, and persevere through thick and thin. At the forefront of saving lives and relieving suffering, we selflessly dedicate ourselves and work tirelessly, fully showcasing the admirable image of modern-day angels in white. With concrete actions, we embody— The noble spirit of health and wellness—“respecting life, saving the dying and helping the wounded, willingly dedicating oneself, and embracing boundless love”—reminds us to stay true to our original aspirations and keep our mission firmly in mind. We must further strengthen the building of medical ethics and professional conduct, continuously enhance our professional competence, and convey the warmth of health guardians with genuine care. We should write the loyalty of white-clad warriors with our sweat, shoulder hope with skillful hands, and earn the future through sincere dedication. On our ordinary yet busy posts, we must become those whom patients can trust with their lives—worthy and loyal guardians who safeguard the physical and mental health and safety of the people. Let us strive to be good doctors who are both passionate and compassionate.
During this critical period of the hospital’s development, I sincerely hope that our physicians will uphold the compassionate heart of healers, strengthen their sense of responsibility and commitment, and faithfully serve as guardians of the people’s health, pioneers of superb medical skills, practitioners of Healthy Dalian, devoted contributors with boundless love, and inheritors of the finest traditions in medicine—thus making new and even greater contributions to the hospital’s growth and development.
Finally, once again, I wish all physicians a happy holiday, good health, smooth work, and every blessing!
