China Doctors’ Day | A Greeting Letter from Dai Jingjie, President of Dalian Jinshitan Hospital, to All Physicians in the Hospital
2018-12-17
Dear physicians:
In August, the air is filled with the sweet fragrance of ripe fruits, and vitality abounds. We are celebrating the inaugural “China Doctors’ Day.” On this special occasion, on behalf of the hospital’s Board of Directors, I would like to extend warm greetings and profound respect to all the physicians in our hospital!
On November 3, 2017, the State Council approved the National Health and Family Planning Commission’s application to establish “China Doctors’ Day.” On November 20, it issued a reply document approving the designation of August 19 as “China Doctors’ Day” starting from 2018. Physician’s Day is the fourth professional holiday established in China, following Teacher’s Day, Nurse’s Day, and Journalist’s Day. This fully demonstrates the Party and the state’s care, concern, and support for medical personnel, reflects the professional honor and appeal of “angels in white,” and highlights the life value of physicians.
The medical profession is a noble one. From the moment we first step into the halls of medicine, we choose to embrace its sacred calling and solemnly uphold the oath: “Our health is entrusted to us; our lives are placed in our hands.” From the instant we write our first prescription or pick up the surgical knife for the first time, we deeply understand that patients entrust their lives to us—and that our responsibility is heavier than Mount Tai. We constantly bear the sacred duty of saving the dying, relieving the suffering, and healing the sick. We shoulder the vital mission of safeguarding the dignity of life and protecting the health and well-being of the people, putting Hippocrates’ oath into practice through our actions.
We choose the sacred path, shoulder our mission, and persevere through thick and thin. At the forefront of saving lives and relieving suffering, we selflessly dedicate ourselves and work tirelessly, fully showcasing the admirable image of today’s “white-coated angels.” With concrete actions, we embody the noble spirit of health care—“respecting life, rescuing the dying and healing the wounded, willingly dedicating ourselves, and extending boundless love.” Staying true to our original aspirations and keeping our mission firmly in mind, we further strengthen medical ethics and professional conduct, continuously enhance our professional competence, and convey the warmth of health guardians with genuine care. We write the loyalty of white-clad warriors with every drop of sweat, uphold hope with skillful hands, and earn the future through sincere dedication. In our ordinary yet busy posts, we become those whom patients can trust with their lives—truly worthy guardians who safeguard the physical and mental health and safety of the people. Let us strive to be good doctors who are both passionate and compassionate.
During this critical period of the hospital’s development, I sincerely hope that our physicians will uphold the compassionate heart of healers, strengthen their sense of responsibility and commitment, and faithfully serve as guardians of the people’s health, pioneers of superb medical skills, practitioners of Healthy Dalian, devoted contributors with boundless love, and inheritors of the finest traditions of medicine—thus making new and even greater contributions to the hospital’s growth and development.
Finally, once again, I wish all physicians a happy holiday, good health, smooth work, and every blessing!
