Seasonal Health Preservation for the Twenty-Four Solar Terms | Beginning of Autumn
The summer heat hasn't yet dissipated, yet the moonlight is bright and shimmering like rippling water. As the first autumn breezes begin to blow, they slip into your sleeves, instantly bringing a hint of coolness. The Beginning of Autumn is the 13th of the 24 solar terms. There are three stages associated with the Beginning of Autumn: First, the cool breeze arrives; second, white dew begins to fall; third, the cold cicadas start to sing. After the Beginning of Autumn, the temperature doesn't drop immediately—rather, the weather gradually grows cooler, and the temperature difference between morning and evening steadily widens. During seasonal transitions, we need to make adjustments in both our diet and daily routines.

The Autumnal Equinox Health Preservation Method of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms
At 9:30:34 p.m. on August 7, Liqiu—the Beginning of Autumn—arrives. Liqiu marks the start of the cool season. However, during the height of the "Sanfu" period, the weather remains extremely hot, so it’s still essential to take measures against heat and stay cool. Nevertheless, Liqiu is ultimately a sign that autumn has begun. After Liqiu, yang energy in nature gradually begins to decline, while yin energy starts to grow. This also represents a transitional period in the human body, where the balance between yin and yang shifts from yang declining to yin rising. Therefore, in autumn health preservation, all aspects—diet, daily routines, mental state, emotions, exercise, and physical activity—should follow the principle of nourishing and conserving. 1. Daily Routine and Health Maintenance In autumn, one should “go to bed early and rise early, just like the rooster.” Going to bed early helps align with the contraction of yang energy, while rising early allows the lung qi to expand fully and prevents excessive contraction. Liqiu falls at the beginning of autumn, when the summer heat hasn’t completely dissipated yet. Although cool breezes occasionally arrive, the weather remains highly changeable—even within the same region, you might experience “four seasons in a single day, and different weather every ten li.” Thus, one shouldn’t wear too many layers of clothing; otherwise, it could impair the body’s ability to adapt to the cooling climate and make one more susceptible to catching a cold. “Spring drowsiness, autumn fatigue, and summer dozing”—after Liqiu, it’s not just drowsiness but also a general feeling of exhaustion and lack of energy. Everyone should avoid autumn fatigue by ensuring sufficient sleep and engaging in moderate physical exercise, gradually increasing intensity as the body adapts. 2. Mental Health Maintenance In autumn, people experience both the joy of harvest and, inevitably, feelings stirred by the changing scenery, evoking a sense of loss: “The sunset is infinitely beautiful, yet it draws near to dusk.” Therefore, when maintaining mental health, one must cultivate inner tranquility, keep the mind calm and peaceful, and maintain a cheerful mood. Avoid feelings of sadness, grief, or melancholy. Even if encountering sad events, actively seek ways to release those emotions and ward off the chilling atmosphere. At the same time, one should gather and conserve one’s vital energy to adapt to autumn’s serene and balanced energy. 3. Dietary Health Maintenance According to the “Suwen: On the Timing of the Zang-Qi,” “The lungs govern autumn... When the lungs contract, eat sour foods promptly to help them contract; use sour flavors to tonify them and pungent flavors to disperse them.” Sour flavors help contract the lung qi, while pungent flavors disperse and drain it. In autumn, it’s best to focus on gathering rather than dispersing, so one should minimize consumption of pungent foods such as scallions and ginger and instead consume more sour fruits and vegetables. Autumn is characterized by dryness, which easily damages body fluids. Therefore, diet should focus on nourishing yin and moistening the lungs. One can appropriately consume soft and moistening foods such as sesame seeds, glutinous rice, japonica rice, honey, loquats, pineapples, and dairy products to benefit the stomach, nourish the lungs, and generate body fluids. Pay attention to supplementing vitamins and trace elements, and eat more light and mild foods. 4. Exercise and Physical Activity Autumn is an excellent time for exercise and physical training. Everyone can choose activities according to their own situation, such as Tai Chi, yoga, swimming, stretching exercises, brisk walking, jogging, stair climbing, roller skating, jump rope, shuttlecock kicking, and badminton. China Doctors’ Day | A Greeting Letter from Dai Jingjie, President of Dalian Jinshitan Hospital, to All Physicians in the Hospital
12-17
2018
Dear Physicians: In August, as fruits ripen and the air is filled with fragrance, we celebrate the inaugural “China Doctors’ Day.” On this special occasion, on behalf of the hospital’s Board of Directors, I would like to extend our warmest greetings and profound respect to all physicians in our hospital! On November 3, 2017, the State Council approved the application submitted by the National Health and Family Planning Commission to establish “China Doctors’ Day,” and issued a reply on November 20, officially designating August 19th each year as “China Doctors’ Day” starting from 2018. China Doctors’ Day is the fourth professional holiday established in our country following Teachers’ Day, Nurses’ Day, and Journalists’ Day. This clearly demonstrates the Party and the state’s deep care, concern, and support for medical personnel, highlights the professional honor and charm of those in white coats, and underscores the profound value of physicians’ lives. Being a physician is a noble profession. From the moment we first stepped into the halls of medicine, we chose a sacred path and solemnly pledged to “dedicate ourselves to safeguarding health and entrusting our lives to it.” From the instant we wrote our first prescription and first picked up the surgical knife, we realized that patients’ lives were placed in our hands—our responsibility was heavier than Mount Tai. We constantly shoulder the sacred duty of saving the dying and healing the sick, bearing the weighty mission of protecting the dignity of life and ensuring the health and well-being of the people. With concrete actions, we put Hippocrates’ oath into practice. We have chosen a sacred calling and taken on a great mission, persevering through thick and thin. At the forefront of saving lives and healing the wounded, we selflessly dedicate ourselves and work tirelessly, fully showcasing the admirable image of modern-day angels in white. Through our practical actions, we embody the noble spirit of health care: “revering life, saving the dying, willingly dedicating ourselves, and extending boundless love.” Staying true to our original aspirations and keeping our mission firmly in mind, we continue to strengthen medical ethics and professional conduct, constantly improving our professional competence. With genuine care, we convey the warmth of health guardians; with hard work, we write the loyalty of white-clad warriors; with skillful hands, we carry hope; and with sincere dedication, we secure the future. In our ordinary yet busy posts, we become the trusted caregivers who can be entrusted with patients’ lives, truly deserving of being loyal guardians of the physical and mental health and safety of the people. Let us strive to be good doctors—doctors with compassion and warmth. At this critical juncture in the hospital’s development, I sincerely hope that our physicians will uphold the benevolent heart of healers, strengthen their sense of responsibility and commitment, and serve as guardians of public health, leaders in medical excellence, practitioners of healthy Dalian, devoted contributors of boundless love, and inheritors of medical wisdom, making new and even greater contributions to the hospital’s development and construction. Finally, once again, I wish all physicians a happy holiday, good health, smooth work, and every blessing! 院长:Dai Jingjie August 18, 2018

Dalian Jinshitan Hospital 2019 Annual Work Summary Conference
The new year ushers in a fresh beginning, and all things are renewed. On the afternoon of January 16, Dalian Jinshitan Hospital held its 2019 annual work report meeting—themed “Integrating Knowledge with Action, Upholding Integrity while Pursuing Innovation”—in the hospital’s multi-functional hall. Leaders of Dalian Jinshitan Hospital and all staff members of the hospital attended the meeting. In his report, the hospital president pointed out: The year 2019 marked the 16th anniversary of the hospital’s founding, and yet the hospital continued to grow steadily and robustly despite facing numerous challenges. Looking back on the journey we’ve taken over the past year—the trials and tribulations, the tears and the sweat; the bitterness and the hard work; the joy and the lingering regrets—so many emotions and thoughts overflowed! In 2019, we continuously deepened our scientific, standardized, and normative management practices, and key medical indicators all showed varying degrees of improvement. The sense of satisfaction patients felt when seeking medical care kept getting better and better. The PET/CT project was officially put into clinical use, and newly added examination items continued to serve the frontline clinical staff. The hemodialysis center is being vigorously developed... All these achievements are the result of the dedication and hard work of every single staff member in the hospital, showcasing the hospital’s extraordinary spirit and strong development momentum. In 2020, we will actively explore new approaches for the hospital’s sustainable development, starting from enhancing patients’ sense of satisfaction with medical care, innovating medical service models, clarifying our positioning in the medical market, and vigorously promoting basic medical services. We will further strengthen our capacity for emergency and critical care treatment. Based on clearly defining our four major medical development focuses—common diseases, frequently occurring diseases, difficult-to-diagnose diseases, and specialized diseases—we will deliver humanistic care and high-quality services under the framework of modern medicine, thus promoting the hospital’s comprehensive and healthy development. New and old push each other forward, and day by day brings fresh progress. The year 2020 has arrived, and it is destined to be an extraordinary year. This year, our country will fully build a moderately prosperous society in all respects and achieve the first centenary goal. It is also a crucial year for the hospital to realize innovative development. Let us embrace this new year with our original aspirations unchanged, welcoming a world of renewal. We will comprehensively improve the quality and standards of medical services, continuously enhance patients’ sense of security and satisfaction in seeking medical care, boost employees’ professional pride and happiness in life, and with the mission of “achievements need not be mine, but I must contribute to their realization,” unite as one and keep working hard to create an even brighter future for the hospital! Finally, on behalf of the board of directors and all members of the hospital’s leadership team, the president extends early New Year greetings to everyone. We sincerely wish all staff members a happy Spring Festival, good health, smooth work, harmonious families, and fulfillment of all your wishes. Thank you all!

Dear Nurse Sisters and Brothers, On the occasion of the 109th International Nurses Day, on behalf of the hospital’s leadership team and all the hospital staff, I would like to extend our warmest congratulations and heartfelt greetings to you, our dear nurse sisters and brothers. We also wish to express our profound respect and sincere gratitude to all the “white-coated angels” who work tirelessly day and night on the clinical frontlines, silently dedicating yourselves to the health and well-being of the people! Nursing is both ordinary and sacred; the nursing profession is glorious and great. Over the years, nursing staff across the hospital have consistently upheld the principle of wholeheartedly serving the health of the people, faithfully following Nightingale’s vow—to “wholeheartedly assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment, and always strive for the welfare of patients.” You have vigorously promoted the humanitarian spirit of saving lives and relieving suffering, working tirelessly around the clock at your nursing posts, racing against time, battling disease, and safeguarding life itself. On seemingly ordinary job sites, you have achieved extraordinary accomplishments. “Love is on the left, compassion on the right—walking alongside life, sowing seeds wherever we go, and seeing flowers bloom everywhere. Those who pass through branches and leaves will tread upon thorns without feeling pain; there may be tears, but they are not tears of sorrow.” This quote by the elder Bing Xin perfectly captures the essence of nursing work. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, it was you—clad in white armor—who bravely stepped forward, resolutely rushing into the frontline of preliminary screening, triage, and epidemic prevention and control. With passionate dedication, you expressed your deep love for your country and people, demonstrating responsibility and commitment through concrete actions—history will never forget! When patients were wracked with pain, it was you—with your original aspirations firmly in mind and your mission firmly on your shoulders—who remained steadfastly by their sides, offering gentle care and tender support, building an unbreakable steel wall to protect the health and safety of the people—the motherland will never forget! When families gathered together under the warm glow of lights, it was you—steadfastly holding your posts and making selfless sacrifices—who, regardless of day or night, cold or heat, perfectly embodied the spirit of “white-coated angels” through your actions. You are the “most lovable people” of the new era—the people will never forget! This year, the theme of China’s Nurses’ Day is “Pay Tribute to the Nursing Team, and Work Together to Overcome the Pandemic.” At present, the global COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, and our city has entered a stage of regular epidemic prevention and control. The pressure to prevent imported cases and curb domestic resurgence remains significant. We hope that you will continue to take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as your guiding principle, always uphold the professional ethos of “respecting life, saving the dying and helping the wounded, being willing to dedicate oneself, and showing boundless love,” forge ahead with determination, and never slacken in your efforts. May you once again achieve remarkable feats in winning this battle against the epidemic! I sincerely wish all nursing staff at our hospital a happy Nurses’ Day, good health, smooth work, and happiness in your families! Dai Jingjie, President of Dalian Jinshitan Hospital May 12, 2020

[Good News] Our hospital has recently introduced the NeuMR 1.5T MRI scanner.
Our hospital has recently introduced a 1.5T MRI system—the latest-generation 1.5T MRI equipment currently available in the industry. This device features a fully human-centered design throughout its entire workflow, making MRI examinations more comfortable and convenient, and significantly enhancing patient comfort during the scan. Unlike X-ray imaging, MRI does not involve ionizing radiation, posing no harm to the human body. It can perform diagnostic tasks that many other imaging modalities cannot, and has thus become one of the most important imaging techniques in clinical practice. The NeuMR1.5T Shengshi MRI system comes equipped with an extensive array of scanning software, providing a solid foundation for the clinical application of MRI and serving as a powerful guarantee for the development of even more advanced clinical applications. Which diseases require MRI examination? These include disorders of the cranium and nervous system, such as congenital malformations, cerebral ischemia, cerebral hemorrhage, brain tumors, and traumatic brain injuries—particularly lesions in the sellar region, posterior cranial fossa, and spinal cord. Also included are diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as joint and muscle injuries, early bone destruction and subtle fractures, various types of arthritis, and the assessment of synovial effusions. For thoracic conditions, MRI is useful in staging post-surgical cases of mediastinal tumors and esophageal cancer, as well as in the qualitative and differential diagnosis of hilar masses and lymph nodes, pulmonary nodules, pleural lesions, chest wall abnormalities, and distinguishing between benign and malignant tumors. In the abdominal area, MRI is indicated for tumors of the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, bladder, adrenal glands, and prostate; it can also detect retroperitoneal tumors and lymph node metastases. In the female reproductive system, MRI holds great value for the diagnosis and staging of endometrial and cervical cancers. It is also highly effective in diagnosing ovarian tumors, screening pregnant women for conditions such as uterine fibroids during pregnancy, and detecting fetal abnormalities—including congenital diaphragmatic hernias and pulmonary hypoplasia. What are the contraindications for MRI examination?

Dear physicians: August is a season of abundant harvest and vibrant vitality. We are celebrating the fourth “Chinese Doctors’ Day.” On this special occasion, on behalf of the hospital’s Board of Directors, I would like to extend our warmest greetings and highest respect to all the physicians in our hospital! With the approval of the State Council, starting from 2018, August 19 has been designated as “Chinese Doctors’ Day” each year. This year’s theme for Doctors’ Day is “Together Building Dreams on the Centennial Anniversary—Physicians Upholding Their Original Aspirations.” Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, we are celebrating our very own holiday. This celebration fully demonstrates the Party and the state’s care, concern, and support for medical personnel, and it highlights the professional honor and charm of those who wear the white coat.
